Monter.no - Bad Web Site of the Month

Monter.no: When you — or your bank, whichever fits best — own a house with a yard, you sometimes find yourself doing stuff in/to/with it. This year, we’ll for example put up a new fence, to keep our new puppy from running into the street.

Since we also need some other stuff for the house, I figured that I’d check what’s the best place to start … from the comfort of my couch, obviously.

First, I visited sites like Byggmakker.no and Byggeriet.no. Then I stopped by Monter.no

Guidelines for Accessible and Usable Web Sites

Steve Krug’s Don’t Make Me Think, a quick and good read btw, made me aware of an article entitled Guidelines for Accessible and Usable Web Sites: Observing Users Who Work.

The article gives good insight into why it is important to do things right on the front end (Norwegian literates should read Kuttisme.no’s checklist on good quality UIs).

Web 2.0 Usability

Earlier this week, Jakob Nielsen claimed that “Web 2.0 is making web firms neglect the basics of good design“.

Guess the nice looking web 2.0 logos (joke, yes), fancy icons and shiny colors weren’t enough? Shooot!
