Monter.no - Bad Web Site of the Month

Monter.no: When you — or your bank, whichever fits best — own a house with a yard, you sometimes find yourself doing stuff in/to/with it. This year, we’ll for example put up a new fence, to keep our new puppy from running into the street.

Since we also need some other stuff for the house, I figured that I’d check what’s the best place to start … from the comfort of my couch, obviously.

First, I visited sites like Byggmakker.no and Byggeriet.no. Then I stopped by Monter.no

Avinor.no Ajax Slider

When I was checking Avinor.no for updated info this evening, I discovered a cool UI control for viewing flight info: an Ajax-powered slider / “timeline”.

By sliding the bar, the user can control the departure / arrival info displayed in the grid beneath it. They’ve also done well on the design. Cool.

Earlier this week, Jakob Nielsen claimed that “Web 2.0 is making web firms neglect the basics of good design“.

Guess the nice looking web 2.0 logos (joke, yes), fancy icons and shiny colors weren’t enough? Shooot!
